Live-In Relationships... What Say?

Live Ins… hmmmm….. Almost everyone has an opinion on this one... An increasing number of couples today prefer to live together before actually tying the knot. It makes me wonder… why would someone want to go to such lengths to test a relationship? Can testing a relationship ensure you a longer lasting happy marriage? Keeping the moral issues aside, there are a lot of studies that show that living in with your partner before marriage, first- reduces the possibility of a marriage at all and second- increases the risk of divorce!!

I am still old school on this one, I feel Love and understanding is enough for two people to feel that their relationship is strong and that they will always be together. I have been through ups and downs in relationships but I still have hope that when I am in love, I would not have to test my relationship by giving it a dry run, like some rehearsal dinner!! I think its important to marry cuz the love that we all want from a partner is not possible without both having the commitment to try to make it last. N I really don’t think two people can actually be truly committed to each other without marriage. So, that’s my thought… what do you think?

PS: I still luurrvee being single and marriage is no where on my charts right now! ;)

I would leave it as a personal choice.. as far as I am concerned..id like to go the old way... too east to get worked up on even smallest misunderstandings when u know ur "free" and "not accountable" as in a traditional marriage... just my thoughts

Relationships have to be lived .. not made .. so live in or marriage .. both ultimately require that commitment from the two involved to make it work .. beyond that everything else is just a mirage

@ The Army Guy.. I quite agree.. there are somethings that just cant come without marriage maybe... :)

@Mayz... I dont have nethin against Live Ins either but yup..trust has to be an integral part of any relationship and it holds even more true for a live in! :)

@ Decrying the shadows, Commitment is integral but for some "commitment phobic" people... marriage just helps! Effort in ne case needs to be made but if there is "luurrvee" this should be simple ryt! :)

Hmm... live ins never really made much sense to me. You'd might as well tie the knot... coz then, what's there to discover in a marriage, when u know it all before? Oh well...to each, his own.

@thespian.. I so agree! But again.. To each his own! :)

i'm with you. but i think to test the relationship may not be to the point. all they want maybe just sex, just like playing a game. fortunately i'm not one of these people.

I think that whatever course of action you take, whether you live together before marriage or not... if the ultimate goal is not marriage, why stay together anyway? But I guess I'm kinda polar like that, haha..

a relationship has to be one of the few things you invest in...rather than taking it for granted...

live ins were probably a result of people revolting against the institution of marriage as dictated by others...

somewhere down the line i guess it just became a convenient way out to not grow up...

@ Mystique Wanderer... "a convenient way out to not grow up." I so agree... More men today and sometimes even women just see it as an escape from all responsibilities marriage gets with it!

... Nice to have u around! :)
