Chivalrous Men- A Dying Breed?
I was talking to this colleague of mine at work today and the usual discussion of “Oh you are a woman, you get the special treatment all the time!” started off… It struck me to know that my friend here felt that, men who are chivalrous have forgotten to live like a “Real Man.” Makes me wonder…
Does the so called macho man feel that a chivalrous man is a lesser “Man?” Don’t you feel that even having this kind of an attitude is robbing men of what women actually want from them? Somehow no matter how much women speak about equality, the “damsel in distress” situation is still common! Every woman would want her guy to save her off her life’s issues once in a while. This certainly does not mean that she cannot do things on her own but only sometimes she would love to see her man get her out of situations! Equality between men and women works well in the workplace or among peers but in a relationship? Naaa…. There the lady needs to be treated like one… C’mon guys if you love her show her you respect her and be chivalrous… Why make such a fuss about it?

no offence, m sure u know what exactly m tryin to tell ya :)
he he .. the real issue dear is that people think too much on the lines of what what person is ...
I mean how does it matter who you are with just be your natural self ... be it ur friend girlfriend wife boss etc
btw
nothing in your post appealed as wrong to me ..
:)

i hope u didnt mean that in a relationship d ppl shud not b treated equal...a lady needs to b treated as a lady everywhr n not jus a realtionship...but being a lady dsnt mean they shud not b treated as equal...a woman is d most beautiful creation of god n needs to b treated wid that kinda respect no matter wat d situation is
@ Anonymous.. I know what you mean... M thinkin positive! :) Thanks for writin in...
@Decrying the shadows...Well if your natural self is chivalrous..Then that's awesome to start with!! :) Its just a thought I heard from quite a few men around...
As Always Its a Pleasure havin u here... :)
@ Mayz...Equality should always be there in a relationship.. I was talkin of moments when the woman should be made to feel special... Glad men like you exist who still feel that a woman deserves respect in any situation...
PS: I will remember that!!! ;)
LOL der was this guy who even mocked chivalry by holding doors open exaggeatedly and saying, 'After you'. But its ok I guess as long as they do step in when necessary and not just say, so you're my equal - handle it!
@ Akshaya... U caught the exact tone of the post...! :)
Exactly my views.
Bitter complications.
@Crepuscule color... Thanks for droppin in... and also followin... :)
well i once offered a seat to a lady on a bus... as usually is the norm in the army buses... but it was a civilian bus this time and the looks i got from the other men ...seemingly it was my fault that i did it on purpose to make em look ignorant...
@thearmyguyspeaks...hehe... Nice one... In the army I know I can vouch for chivalry but in the civil or as civilians say...in society.. m not sure I can...
Neway.. thanks for droppin in..Which Arm? :)
Infantry.. Para Optee.. lets see if I get those wings.. :)
chivalary came from an era where men competed with men and women with women...and the only thing that brought the two genders close...was the game of love...
now imagine holding the door open for the girl whose appearing for the same job opportunity as u...she's as good as u...plus she's a woman and the interviewer is a guy :P
changing times...an evolving society....lets see wat evolves
@Mystique Wanderer.. Maybe changin times have also changed the meaning of the word "Chivalry.." Opening the door for the lady may not be the thing to do.. but I guess its just respect for the lady that should remain...
Thanks for droppin in...! :)
